This project holds a unique value for our office, as it reflects fundamental ideas at the core of our practice at LSD.
It is the result of an exhaustive site analysis.
In this project, we have explored concepts outside the norm—
We allowed ourselves to experiment with ideas that a client would not typically permit.
The wave… The Tube… ever-changing… shifting forms… reshaping… regenerating… connected to the earth… energy-driven… the healthy way.
The LSD Architects office building was conceptualized as a flexible, multifunctional structure designed to be used in different ways throughout its lifespan—
a model of regenerative energy, evolving with the user and adapting to their needs.
Initially, it functions as an architecture office with open, interconnected spaces; a partially open-plan layout that creates a feeling of amplitude, spaciousness, and total interconnection.
This same building has the capacity to be divided into two commercial units, each with its own restroom core and independent access.
It can also transform into a residential home: with the social area, kitchen, and a bedroom with its own bathroom on the first floor, and an additional bedroom with a bathroom on the second floor.
We believe that architectural flexibility will be essential in the future, as the reuse of buildings is one of the most important factors in the sustainability of any structure.
The roof consists of a floating concrete slab designed initially as an inhabitable green roof and photovoltaic energy platform. This same roof has the capacity to accommodate two additional studio units that can be built in the future.
The slab is supported by round columns that metaphorically resemble the tree trunks surrounding the site, creating a sense of connection and openness between the interior and exterior spaces.
This roof slab can also collect rainwater for reuse.
The Tube is based on a hybrid construction system where each material is chosen according to its purpose:
concrete floors that isolate moisture from the terrain, glass walls that frame the natural surroundings while regulating natural light and ventilation, and a wooden ceiling that introduces organic texture, creating an interior space that is both visually appealing and atmospherically warm.
